Size : aprox 7000 sqm
Job : total design
Client : city of haifa
Status : proposal - graduation final project
story : situated on the slope of the Carmel mountain facing the only northern sea front in Israel and overlooking the bay the port and the ocean is a museum dedicated for all those "maapilim" immigrants who dedicated their lives coming to israel or those who helped other achieve it and fulfilling their dream of creating a Jewish state, some prior to the formation of Israel and many shortly after. this museum proposes open air galleries, statues, art and various gardens and paths along this majestic scenic views of the bay and the bahi gardens. in my proposal i suggested to divide the museum into 2 main galleries the underground gallery which is dark and concealed in the mountain representing and portraying the stories of those who came illegally in the dark of night and risked their lives doing so, and opposed to that a cantilevered laminated gallery that represents and displays those immigrants who came legally after the formation of Israel. the roofs of both galleries creates public viewpoints along the luis promenade, all these facing the view of port where most of these immigrants entered through I also have a family connection to this matter since my grandfather who died many years before i was born was a captain of such ships and brought thousands of Jewish immigrants to Israel after the end of the war (ww2) .
